ON DISCOVERY
Those light bulb moments when you begin to discover and peel back the layers of your true self... I love those moments! My journey through motherhood has been like a magnifying glass, focused on uncovering and bringing forth the the best and not-so-best parts of who I am. Discovery is a beautiful thing! When we really begin to dig deep, quiet the noise and just be present, we give ourselves an opportunity to see things more clearly. Things we love, things we’d love to change and things we want to see flourish. We become more aware of simple pleasures, and understand how they really are what matters most.
Discovery of oneself is the most liberating thing we can experience as people, because without it...we’re just wanderers! Waiting and searching to be enlightened. We think we know but we really don’t. Looking for purpose and understanding! What I love most about discovery, is that it’s always happening. Each day I discover something new as a mother, as a wife, as a sister, daughter and friend!
As a wife, I’ve discovered that marriage has different seasons, and as life partners we must meet each other where we are and learn to communicate in ways I didn’t know I was capable of. As a mother, I’ve learned that I'm fully equipped with enough love in my heart to teach and guide my children and that somedays, they are the ones teaching me. As a sister, I’ve discovered how to be a listening non-judgmental ear, one that encourages and uplifts my sisters in need. As a daughter, I’ve discovered how to serve and pay homage to the woman that loved and cared for me even through her worst days as a single mother. As a friend, I’ve discovered how to build bonds that cultivate sisterhood and community life.
I turned 35 in January, and decided to theme this as my 30 THRIVE year! I’m intentionally finding new ways to discover my gifts and how I can use them to serve myself and others. Discovery is such a beautiful thing! The beauty is that it never ends. May we all continue on a road to new places and spaces. Meeting new people that invite and encourage us to discover more.
