Shah, on Memory. Sling Diaries, Vol VII.

The Sling Diaries, Volume VII. A photo-documentary chronicling the art of baby wearing in the lives of families around the world. Over the course of six months, Sling Diarists will create their own Sling Diary though a series of diary entries interpreting a unique theme given to them each month.

Meet all of our Sling Diarists here.

Isn’t it amazing how our minds can take us back in time?! To places that brought us joy & pain in different stages of our lives. We  currently live in a time where we capture most moments with our cameras and phones and we all have millions of photographs sketched into our memory! I’m a “capture the moment” kind of girl, so before we had the luxury of cameras in our phones, I walked around with a disposable camera in my purse! I have albums and albums of photos through many years of my life, but yet and still, nothing compares to the memories in my mind. Take a minute, close your eyes and think deeply to your fondest moment. I’m sure that’s hard to narrow down but give it a try!

As you play through the memory in your mind, pay attention the feelings that memory sparks. What were your surroundings? What were you wearing? How did you feel?!  You see, the mind is such a beautiful thing! It allows us to relive not only the visual moment, but the feeling attached to it too.

We all have memories we’d rather not reflect on, but they still shape who we are. The power to ponder about the past doesn’t hold a candle to the opportunity we have to make memories in the future. Let’s agree to treat our memory as a gift, one that’s guiding, reminding & inspiring us to truly LIVE in the moment. Although I love looking at old pictures & reminiscing through good times. The best moments aren’t always captured on camera, their saved in a safe space in our minds.
