The Sling Diaries, Volume VII. A photo-documentary chronicling the art of baby wearing in the lives of families around the world. Over the course of six months, Sling Diarists will create their own Sling Diary though a series of diary entries interpreting a unique theme given to them each month.

ON KINSHIP

"Family over EVERYTHING" such a powerful and true perspective. Family is my reason! My reason to self-develop & celebrate life, even through the trying times. As a wife and mother of 4, things get crazy busy and overwhelming in my household. The noise is at an all time high, 2 year old tantrums by the boatload, and lots or nursing and baby cuddles are on repeat. What I know for sure is, with a growing family it's top priority that we make our intentions to live in harmony together. I'm not talking picture-perfect-hallmark card kind of harmony. I mean respecting one another's feelings, thoughts, and personalities.

My two oldest children are 9 and 6 years old, and going through a bit of sibling rivalry on a daily! I'm the oldest of four so I completely understand how sibling dynamics work and how having a little brother can be plain old irritating at times. I want my children to understand how important it is that we respect and treat each other kind. Respect and kindness is deserved even when you're not in the greatest mood, even when you're having a not so good day!

Everyone's family dynamic will differ, but we all serve a different purpose within the family. Teaching this to my children early on will encourage them to be mindful of how they treat themselves and each other. Leading them to go out into the world to build kinship and positive relationships.

I've been blessed with family by blood and fortunate to cross paths with great people whom I consider family by choice. The foundation of healthy relationships begins at home, so it is my mission to set my little loved ones off with great examples through, love, lessons, patience and practice.
