"This is the part where you find out who you are”... this quote resonates on so many levels as a mother.
It would’ve been easy for me to choose to write on how much I love seeing my children develop in wonderment with everything they discover as they grow. How they love the scent of sweet, love the sound of something new, or finding a new bug and being ever so curious about it.
But truth be told isn’t it true as motherhood starts we can so easily loose who we are. The days are long, the messes are many, the joys are rewarding, and the cries are exhausting.
We look at ourselves and realize we’ve become a puzzle with a missing piece. Does it mean we toss it aside? No we search, we dig deep.
So much of me was hidden undiscovered from my very being until I had children. I found things deeply bound in my heart that were roaring to get out.
I found hurt
I found passion
I found healing
I found joy in simplicity
I found calm
I found a storm.
As you read this, do you feel these same things within you? Do you yearn to begin putting the pieces together, to see the beauty from within your soul? We as mothers must recognize that we are more than mothers, we have a heart to feed, and a spirit that we need to allow to dance in self recognition.
Heal the hurt with forgiveness and acceptance.
Relish in the passion but dress it with kindness to make it a pure beauty in others eyes.
Dance in the rain.
Smell the wild flowers and make a flower-crown.
Chase the sun and moon.
Make a new meal with your partner, laugh together, smell the spices, and feel the warmth that engulfs your home.
Sip coffee slow, enjoy a new wine or craft beer that you may of otherwise not tried and have found you like it.
Listen to new music, write your story, thrive in something that creatively drives you.
Fight the hard, become strong. Enter the joy greet it with laughter, live in happiness.
Who am I? Mother yes. Women of course. I am Michelle, Mom, and also a women striving to discover her being and strengthen it.
So who are you? Care enough to find out?
