The Sling Diaries, Volume VII. A photo-documentary chronicling the art of baby wearing in the lives of families around the world. Over the course of six months, Sling Diarists will create their own Sling Diary though a series of diary entries interpreting a unique theme given to them each month.

ON DISCOVERY

From dawn till dusk, eyes wander to and fro. 

Absorbing. 

Piercing eyes gazing deep into souls, hearing words unspoken.

As hours pass, their little lids grow heavy, weighted by the revelation of their world. 

Tiny fingers brush every surface.

Texture is their teacher.

Fearless licking, crunching and grinding with no regard for hygiene

The intrigue of discovery is mighty, its draw inevitable. 

Time has no value, 

now-moments are everything.

Innately aware of birds chirping, butterflies floating and every single roaring plane.

Never to busy. Never needing convincing. 

Don’t arrive at contentment. 

Shun the settling numbness to the world.

Always rip off the blanket masked as security and comfort,

for it is sew together in fear and busyness. 

Busyness will be the undoing, 

Placing blinders on eyes and hands to stop ears.

Numbness to the world leaves souls frantic and dull,

Barely surviving. 

 

This is not destiny,

Here you will not find the best life.

Swiftly remember the hands and heart of child.

Allow discovery a seat in a heart of flesh. 

 

Be filled with the charm of curiosity, 

Let wonder silently unravel, 

As it moulds minds towards joy.

Wholly living.
