If you email Sakura Bloom or come to one of our in-person events, you’ll be talking to Liz - one of the warmest, kindest souls you will every meet! :) Not only is she an incredible babywearing educator who has completed trainings with both the Center for Babywearing Studies and the Canadian Babywearing School, but she's also a former molecular biologist, a self-proclaimed foodie, and our amazing Customer Service and Wholesale Manager!
I'm from: Bakersfield, CA and it will always feel like home with family and friends there, although I have lived 1/2 of my life elsewhere. I have bounced around from Hawaii to San Francisco, finally settling in San Diego.
What is unique about the wall I'm standing in front of:It was the location of my first daughter's professional photoshoot. I loved the photos so much that I make sure to take them every year with my family.
My family includes: My husband, Witt, my two girls, Olivia (6) & Amarie (3). We have two Boxer dogs: Romeo & Sorrel (our Snapchat puppy star)
My role at Sakura Bloom is: Customer Service and Wholesale Manager
I spend 80% of my time at Sakura Bloom supporting our incredible customers and retailers and 20% of my time helping families into slings at events, photoshoots, and dreaming up ideas with our team.
One of my favorite things about working for Sakura Bloom is: I LOVE fabric and textiles. I love to talk about them, feel, touch, and discuss their qualities. The view from my desk is pretty amazing with all of our slings hanging around.
The most common question that I get asked is: What is your best sling for the summer heat? And the answer is: SILK! It is lightweight and airy, while still being a very supportive. It is quite an amazing fabric and downright gorgeous.
My favorite thing to do with the Sakura Bloom team is: Events. I adore helping families into slings and the bonus is that I get to hold sweet babies all of the time! The real reward, though, is the look on a caregiver's face after getting them comfy in a sling. It makes me feel so good to see their smiles, contentment, bonding with baby, and hands free confidence. It is why I love being an educator.
The project that I'm currently most excited about is: The retailer education program that I am developing.
If I could go anywhere in the world for a dream photo shoot, I'd choose: This is the hardest question! I love traveling and narrowing it down to one place is nearly impossible. If I had to choose just one, I would say the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The scenery is simply breathtaking.
My favorite sling is: Another hard question! I think this changes by the day. Haha. I am currently adoring Fleur (Simple Silk) and Tern (Theory)! One of my forever favorites is Black Currant (Chambray).
The strangest thing I ever discovered in the bottom of my sling was a: Umm, I don't remember… or I have blacked out these memories!
Something that people would be surprised to know about me is: I used to be a molecular biologist. I have done research on plant biology, immunology, and cancer. I miss the science and still love to read research papers, but working with families has taken a hold of my heart!
