The Common Thread. A Sakura Bloom photo documentary celebrating the commonalities that we share through the capture of what makes us unique.

We are excited today to introduce @kateinlove, Kate Edwards.

Name: Kate Edwards

Kids + Ages: Oliver (4), Rain (16 months)

Where you live: Granada Hills, CA

What is unique about the wall you're standing in front of: This was taken in front of the Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC) at Cal State University Northridge, the University that my husband works at and I grew up just blocks from.

I spend 65% of my time doing: mama duty and 35% of my time: working as a Realtor. It's hard to accurately separate those percentages because the beauty of my job is I do a lot of real estate work while hanging with my kiddos.

The strangest thing I ever discovered in the bottom of my diaper bag was: A baggy with trimmings from Oliver's first haircut. It's been in the diaper bag for about 2 years. He has such curly hair that he's only had 4 haircuts in his 4 years.

When I'm celebrating, you'll find me eating: sushi and drinking: champagne, but not at the same time.

If I could have any superpower, it would be: I would definitely fly!

Making pancakes on the weekend, I'm listening to: Pitch Perfect soundtrack, because Oliver knows most of the words and we love singing together.

If I got pulled over for speeding, I'd most likely be listening to: Hands to Myself - Selena Gomez

If I could spend a month making the world a better place, I'd: open my home to foster children.

The most inspiring Instagram feed to follow is: @Fosteringawareness: Maura and her family frequently provide foster care for babies and children in need of short term placement.

My top tip for a new parent: Utilize your community and the people offering to help, and every tough time is just a phase.

My favorite book recommendation: The Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follett

If I could only have one Sakura Bloom on a desert island, I'd have: Tern Theory Why: It would serve as a blanket at night, be cool when we're walking in the hot sun, and be supportive all day while collecting coconuts.

If you get me talking about: Thrifting! you might as well cancel the rest of your day.

The name of my memoir would be: Being Me While Being Mama

The top item on my bucket list is: See the world. I haven't traveled enough.

If I could go anywhere in the world for a week, I'd choose: I would travel all over Europe.

Thank you so much for joining us for The Common Thread!
